    Overview

    Each day at KBV Orchestra Camp is filled with engaging rehearsals. Students will benefit from a structured schedule that encourages creativity and skill development. Our daily activities ensure that participants make the most of their time while enjoying a fulfilling musical experience.

    Sample Schedule:

    • 8:15 - 8:30 – Sign in and Tune
    • 8:30 – 9:15 (45 min.) – Rehearsal/class
    • 9:15 – 9:20 –(5 min.) QUICK Stretch and bathroom break
    • 9:20 – 10:05 – (45 min.) Rehearsal/class
    • 10:05– 10:15– (10 min.) Stretch and bathroom break
    • 10:15 – 11:30 – (45 min.) Rehearsal/class
    • 11:30 - 11:50 - (20 min. ) Break
    • 11:50 - 12:30 - (40 min.) Rehearsal
    • 12:30 - Dismissal

    End-of-Camp Concert

    Friday, June 27, 2025 - 11:00AM

    Camp culminates in a performance on the last day. Concert begins at 11:00AM.

  • Various Skilled Ensembles

    Beginning Ensemble

    Students who have never played before. Students will learn all the basic skills necessary to play a string instrument.

    ESTIMATED GRADE – but not limited to – 4th, 5th, 6th in Fall 2025.

    Continuing Level 1

    Will place heavy emphasis on reinforcing fundamentals of instrument posture and position, as well as note and rhythm literacy to continue strengthening the student's foundational skills.

    Skills covered included, but not limited to:

    • one-octave scales
    • rhythms: whole/half/quarter/eighth
    • Introduce slurs
    • Focus on controlled tone, bow use, learning intonation, and tuning

    ESTIMATED GRADE – but not limited to - 6th/7th grade Fall 2025

    Continuing Level 2

    Heavy emphasis on proper instrument playing position, music, and rhythm literacy skills. Students should be overall secure in their note-reading abilities.

    Skills covered included, but not limited to:

    • two-octave scales
    • rhythms: whole/half/quarter/sixteenth/dotted-quarter
    • Use of slurs in music
    • Focus on tone, intro to vibrato, accurate intonation

    ESTIMATED GRADE – but not limited to – 7th/8th grade Fall 2025

    Continuing Level 3

    This course is designed for students who are secure in note and rhythm literacy wanting to continue to strengthen and refine their skills prior to entering high school orchestra in the Fall, as well as those students in high school currently wanting to reinforce these skills. This class is for students who know how to play but would like to have a group experience and build off the skills they already possess. The focus will be on rhythm, vibrato, and 3rd position and higher depending on the skill level registered.

    Skills covered included, but not limited to:

    • Two/three-octave scales
    • rhythms: whole/half/quarter/sixteenth/dotted-quarter/triplets/dotted-eighth
    • Use of slurs in music
    • Focus on tone, vibrato, accurate intonation, ensemble balance

    ESTIMATED GRADE – but not limited to - 9th/10th grade Fall 2025

    Advanced

    This course is designed for students who practice regularly and are familiar with 3rd position and higher. Students in this group have an understanding of vibrato and consistently produce a clear tone with solid intonation. The focus will be on ensemble repertoire

    ESTIMATED GRADE – but not limited to - 11/12th grade Fall 2025

    Audition Excerpts - COMING SOON!

    Students need to select ONE excerpt they can practice and play well. They must submit a recording of them playing (aduio only required) the excerpt and email to kvborchestracamp@gmail.com no later than June 8, 2025. This is NOT for acceptance into camp. This is meant to ensure accurate ensemble placement after registering.
